1 Day. The Charm of Tbilisi.

Our evening recommendation – relaxing in ancient sulfuric baths which were beloved of literature classics Aleksander Pushkin and Aleksander Duma. There is a saying – if you haven’t been in Tbilisi baths means you haven’t been in Tbilisi. You can order a pot of tea or…massage and have a good time with your friends in a separate bath room (1 hour perroom costs about 25-50 USD).

  • Overnight in Tbilisi.

2 Day. Up to the mountains. 

3 Day. First day in the homeland of wine – Kakheti region.

4 Day. Discovering Kakheti – historical monuments, wine and Kakhetian cuisine.

  • Excursions of the day:
  • Gremi architectural complex of 16-17th Centuries.
  • Nekresi Monastic Complex
  • Excursion to one of the longest wine tunnels (Kvareli village) with the total length of 7.7 km.
  • Tasting of wine and chacha (Georgian spirit drink).
  • Kakhetian cuisine or „make by yourself“: baking traditional bread and making of Georgian sweet – churchkhela (called Georgian snickers).
  • Bodbe Monastery.
  • Traditional Georgian dinner - Supra.
  • Overnight in Sighnaghi.

5 Day. Impressive cave town and evening in capital city.

6 day. Goodbye Georgia, hello Armenia!

  • Early departure from Tbilisi to the border of Armenia (Sadakhlo-Bagratashen). Changing the bus ant meeting Armenian guide.
  • Excursion of the day:
  • Vanadzor - a town largely constructed from multi-color tuf /tufa/ stone.
  • Wonderful monasteries Haghpat and Sanahin where artistic merits transcend the limits of the national culture (UNESCO recognized).
  • Lunch  in Alaverdi
  • Overnight in Alaverdi or Vanadzor.

7 day. Armenian Ancient Sites.

  • After breakfast heading to Yerevan. On the way:
  • Artashavan – New Complex of Armenian Letters: “It is difficult to express the deep feeling Armenians have for their language, which many regard as the lifeblood of their culture”.
  • Ashtarak where you can find numerous churches or various ancient buildings at every turn;
  • Oshakan known as the last resting place of  Mesrop Mashtots
  • Making traditional Armenian bread, called lavash.
  • Overnight in Yerevan

8 Day. Yerevan city tour.

  • Erebouni Fortress which was founded in 782 BC.
  • Arin-Berd hill where ancient fortress are located.
  • Tsitsernakaberd memorial and museum to the 1915 Genocide – one of the most impressive monuments in Yerevan.
  • Matenadaran - Depository and Museum of ancient manuscripts
  • Cascade and  Gerard  Cafesjian Art Museum which is Armenia’s largest repository of modern art.
  • Lunch in Armenian Traditional Restaurant.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

9 Day. Some more history.

  • Excursions of the day:
  • Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – the “religious capital” and the seat of the Supreme Patriarch-Catholics of all Armenians.
  • Hripsime and Gayane Churches (7th c) named after the faithful virgins, these churches are dedicated to the virgins Hripsime and Gayane, 3rd century followers of Christ who were martyred.
  • The magnificent ruins of Zvartnots (celestial angels) Cathedral (7th c) which will show you the uniqueness of Armenian church architecture, where once stood an impressive three-tiered circular structure with a spectacular central dome.
  • Lunch in Etcmiadzin.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

10 day. Visiting wine region.

  • Excursions of the day:
  • Khor Virap Monastery (St. Gregory the Illuminator’s underground pit).
  • Stop for amazing view of Biblical Mt. Ararat: “The blessed Mountain for Armenians”.
  • Visit to “Areni Winery” in Areni village at Vayots Dzor Province which is the most prolific wine making region of Armenia and has been throughout history. Wine tasting.
  • Noravank Monastery.
  • Lunch in Noravank.
  • Back to Yerevan.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

11 Day. The best of Armenian Nature Sites.

  • Garni the rare pre-Christian pagan monument maintained in Armenia;
  • Geghard (Cave monastery) architectural complex in the 12-13th century, cut in one monolithic rock.
  • Famous Lake Sevan“The Emerald of Armenia”, set approximately 1900m above sea level, situated high in the mountains and famed for its glorious and ever-changing hues. On the way – stop by the lakeside churches on the top of peninsula to admire a spectacularly picturesque scene overlooking the lake and distant mountains.
  • Lunch in Sevan
  • Back to Yerevan.
  • Overnight in Yerevan.

12 Day. Departure Day.

  • Transfer to Yerevan Airport with wish to come back ;)
